On 15th of March the SPE President Dr. Nathan Meehan visited Clausthal University of Technology, for an activity prepared by the SPE Student Chapter of the Clausthal University of Technology under the title: “Encouraging the Future Oil Industry Leaders”
The visit started with a private meeting with the Professors from the Petroleum Institute. The session included a welcome speech given by the Institute of Petroleum Engineering (ITE) Director Prof. Dr. Leonhard Ganzer, followed by a presentation from the GSSPE (German Section of the SPE), to complete the morning with the SPE President presentation, where he talked about the importance of oil and gas in the global energy sector and held a motivational speech, during which he shared his opinion on the current price of oil. A tour of the ITE facilities – Reservoir Engineering EOR Laboratories and Drilling Workshop – was included. During this tour a large amount of industry-relevant technical experiments were presented and explained to our guests. To conclude the closest SPE Student Chapters presented their activities and achievements – RWTH Aachen University SPE Chapter and Mining University of Leoben SPE Chapter – as well as the hosting SPE Chapter from TU Clausthal.
The visit was very fruitful and historical as it was the first time a SPE President visited Clausthal University of Technology
